Sustainability

With increasing business and the 2019 environmental regulations coming in to force in London ICT Coaches decided that the best option was to acquire new ‘Euro 6’ executive Coaches, the fleet comprising of 16, 33 and 52 seater executive Mercedes coaches. Our sister company also operates an 8 seater Executive Ford Tourneo available for smaller groups, airport runs, etc.

This enables us to operate an eco-friendly fleet, whilst maintaining competitive pricing where entry to controlled emissions zones comes at additional cost for older vehicles.

So what is Euro 6?

Euro 6 is the type of engine fitted specifically designed to reduce NOX emissions by a staggering 66% compared to it’s predecessor – Euro 5.  On a typical trip to London the CO2 emissions are about 75% less than a car over the same journey.   London is the first city to levy charges on non-Euro 6 vehicles and this will be adopted over time across many other towns and cities.  Non-compliant coaches are subject to a £100 levy to travel in central London.

The London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) is currently in place with tougher standards being implemented from 26th October 2020.

The London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is also in place, currently covering a small area of central London.

As the ULEZ is extended outwards to the North (A406) and South (A205) circular roads in October 2021, and other cities implement similar measures, ICT Coaches Ltd. remains committed to these lower-emissions vehicles.
